The Dress is DONE!!

The Dress is done! I truly fell in love with this dress as I made it. It was pretty complicated for me, I really struggled with the pleats, sleeves (in 2 parts, and with pleats!!), the zipper (of course) and the ROSES. I was so happy with the end result. I must say that I think Tenaya's custom made dress looked just great next to the store bought dresses!

I pleased with my restraint.....I managed to refrain from pointing out all the things that I think are "wrong" with this dress. When complimented, I managed to stick with "why...thank you"!!

My new bedroom

Not much time for creating anything these days....we are in full WEDDING countdown. I am trying to get my house and YARD in some kind of order. It's crazy! And....it's opportunity! We are doing so many things, BIG changes around here....and the cool thing is...we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor AFTER the wedding! A few things we have already done: gravel the driveway (so pretty!), new deck (almost finished), cleaned up a very neglected yard (ugh!), painted my bedroom and bath (who is going to see that?) and of course lots of repairs and cleaning jobs....all this added to the normal wedding preparation.

This is my new bedroom....in a box. I bought a complete set off Ebay. Can't wait to see what it really looks like!

Here is the bedroom "before". Well, it's not a true before. This photo is after the wonderful painting job my husband did. Before, it was blue/green, my favorite color. We painted it maybe 10 years ago, and I have always loved it. But, we painted EVERYTHING blue, the trim, ceiling...everything. Then, I started watching decorating shows on tv and learned that I was doing it all wrong. How embarrassing! So, we chose a great taupe color for our neutral and white for trim. As we were painting over my blue/green, I started panicking. I was already missing that bright pretty color. Then I remembered all the decorators on those shows, soothing the homeowners, telling them to wait until the finished look. So, I calmed down and waited. Here is the bedroom after painting:

And here it is after the bedset and curtains. I'm so HAPPY! I LOVE IT!

MMMMMmmmmmm, just like the spa feeling I was going for!

Next post will be my bathtub that I painted BLUE!! (you'll see!)

New Poncho for Spring!

This is my new poncho, just in time for Spring!! I saw this in one of my pattern books and I didn't like the colors they used. So, I just used colors that I like and I love the way it turned out. Now I just need for the weather to stay warm so I can wear it!!

Cardi Remakes

My latest passion....remaking. I saw a great article in a magazine that inspired me and now I have tons of great ideas for "remaking" clothing.

This was formerly a sweatshirt. I cut it up the middle, chopped off the bottom and the sleeves, added some fabric and some buttons.

This is also a sweatshirt. I cut off the bottom and the sleeves. Then I cut up the back and put in some fabric to make a sort of pleat. Same thing on the sleeves. It needed something more, so I put on some bows. I love bows and ribbon! The fabric is kind of vintage and the appliques are also vintage. I did some decorative zig zag along the edges. Wish my machine had more stitches!

Very comfy!!

I am anxious to try some more ideas that I have....stay tuned!!

Daffodil HIll

Being married to a photographer...means never having to take pictures! Or does it? I have been learning about photography on other blogs and it is drawing me in!! I am just learning about taking photos with my little camera, that does a good job by the way. Hubby is giving me lots of good info. I can see why it can be so addicting. It has opened my eyes to new possibilities, for sure. These photos are from Daffodil Hill. It's a wonderful place as you can see from the photos. I even got a picture of the elusive photographer himself!!

My first pic of the day....at first I couldn't see anything to take a picture of...later on, I couldn't stop!

Daffodils, and more daffodils!! It IS Daffodil Hill afterall!

This peacock was amazing. I wish I could have captured the incredible colors!

I could have taken pics of flowers all day!!

He's not accustomed to having HIS picture taken!

Pookie Bear

When all the kids grow up and move out....what next? A cute little doggie!! Our "precious" Pookie Bear got a hair cut this week and hubby decided it was a great time for a "portrait". He told me that it took a lot of "treats" to get this pose. I think it was worth it!!

My Version of the Cardi Remake

I love my new (old) cardigan sweater. I changed it 3 times and ended up with something I really like. It feels fun and "Spring-y". I am all set to cut up some more sweaters!!!
