Pink Organizing

Welcome to Pink Saturday!

This is a jewelry organizer that I have had forever. Probably since the 80's. I was having trouble seeing my collection of beads for making jewelry, and I found myself buying the same exact beads over and over. (hey I know what I like!) I was looking for a way to organize them and to be able to see the colors that I have.

This was the perfect answer! I can see all the colors. Of course, when I am making things, I always want some color or size that I don't have, lol.

If you are thinking that this is a lot of beads....think again. I know what other "beaders" have and this would be considered a "beginner" collection for sure.
I'll just have to work on that!!

Yes. I do LOVE pink!

I sometimes think that I enjoy collecting and organizing the supplies even more than the actual creation of jewelry!!

If you like Pink too......hop on over to Beverly's and take the Pink Saturday Tour,
it's Pink-A-Licious!

Cordless??

Warning! If you are not easily amused.... This post will POSITIVELY bore you. There. At least I warned you. He he.

First of all, I did not get to play in the sewing room yesterday....I was recruited to PAINT for our "project". I really don't like painting, but somebody had to do it. Today I am putting my home office back together. I can't wait to give you the whole tour, it's one of my favorite places!

What's up with all these cords? Yuck!!! I just couldn't leave them like that, could I? I found some of those stick-on hooks and hid them under the desktop.

Much better, don't you think? You may (or may NOT) be wondering what on earth all of these cords go to. Let's see. On my desk I have: laptop, monitor, 2 speakers (cords to connect them and to the laptop), phone (3 cords! --power, phoneline, headset), external hard drive, photo printer, cord to "real" printer, cordLESS key board and mouse (but they DO have a receiver that plugs in). That's a lot of cords. Which is funny when you think about all of the supposED cordless items that DO have cords. It's AMAZING...right? (If you haven't watched that video--scroll down--...otherwise you will miss my attempt at humor.)

This is what you DON'T see around the corner of the desk. Ugh. I don't EVEN know what to do about this. Nothing I guess. Nobody can see it except for me.

As I started to put every thing back together, I came across these. What the heck? I'm that person who is always telling people to label all of their cords. I don't have a clue what these go to.

Wait! One of them goes to my Beautiful Crystal Award that my company gave me 5 years ago when I became a Crystal Executive. It's very special to me. It lights up and turns around showing off the crystal. So. Which plug is it? The crystal base doesn't have any markings on it.

These are just the everyday cords that I keep in my top drawer. They are for my Ipod, camera and cell phone/pda.

Yesterday, I was looking for a cord to plug in to something old. I asked hubby if he knew where it was. He brought out his box of cords. You would NOT believe this unless you saw it. It had obviously been rummaged through many times and it was one big snarl. On a good note, I found the cord I was looking for, this involved a quick call to Radio Shack for confirmation. They are soooo helpful.

Admittedly I have my own cord "cache". I have tried and tried to keep it organized. Those cords, just LOVE to mingle.

Have you had enough yet?
No wonder the house goes so quiet when the power is out. Just think of all of these things that are ALWAYS plugged in!

I USED to have a bunch of cords in my kitchen for all the chargers. Then I found this little station. I bought it years ago and never even took it out of the box. Wow. It really did come in handy.

Isn't technology AMAZING? We are so lucky to be living in such an incredible time. Sometimes it's hard to just keep up.

Blogging in exile....

I am kicked out of my home office today!

It makes me realize how much time I spend in there! I'm ALL laptop, so I can be mobile, but it's not the same. When my office is done (I guess that is another hint as to what my current project is), I will show it. I've never shown pictures of it before here on Lulu's Cottage, because that would involve cleaning it up. What with all the piles of papers and such....well, it just seemed to be too big of a task. I miss my big screen monitor, my printer, my desk, my chair ....well actually, this one in my sewing room is pretty comfy too!

So, I am banished to the downstairs. Seems like a good time for UFO's. I do have a few projects that I would like to finish. In fact, I have a couple of pictures that I have been wanting to post....so here we go...this is a necklace that my daughter made during our beading day last week. She is working soooo much this month, that I will barely even see her. I'm so glad that we got to spend that day together!

While she did that, I pulled out a UFO (UnFinished Object)...this cute little "Amulet Bag", that I started months ago. I made it with vintage trim and beads. I don't know what I will actually "do" with it, but it was fun to make and it's pretty. Guess it will just hang as a decoration in my sewing room with the others!

Now that I am in my sewing room, I feel like MAKING something! Gotta go sew!

I've got the FEVER!

Spring Fever that is. It's been cold here lately. I just can't get warm. I long to feel hot and walk outside without my coat. I want to wear sandals and a tank top! I'm ready for warm weather. Of course, I must reserve the right to complain when it does get hot. Is that okay? When it's hot, I wish for winter, when it's cold, I wish for summer.
I'm just sayin.

Spring must be on the way. Our daffodils are starting to come up. There is one that is already beginning to flower. The question every year is....will it snow on them? I'm okay with more rain (we need it), but let's just leave out the snow....please.

Something is going on at my house. It's a really big thing. I'll give you a hint.....I won't be needing my vacuum cleaner as much. Do you know what it is?? I'll be posting about it soon!

Yay!! This is a beautiful art piece that I won from the OWOH event. Isn't it lovely? I want to place it where I can see it always....I think it's inspiring! Thank you to Danielle over at http://blog.collectiveelements.com/2009/01/one-world-one-heart-givewaway.html

She is a wonderful artist with a fabulous blog!

And this wonderful package of treasures came from Dawn at http://dwreality.blogspot.com/

Thank you sooooo much!! Her picture is so much better than mine...be sure to hop over to her blog and see for yourself!

I've been having problems with my computer lately. It drives me crazy. I came across this video on http://willnnabel.blogspot.com/ and it was soooo funny. Every time I get frustrated about my computer (and other things), I think about this little video. It's hilarious and at the same time it really does put things in to perspective!

Everything IS amazing! Don't you think?

Pink Saturday

What is fun and fabulous and PINK all over? ??

Why it's Pink Saturday...of course!!

This is my latest beading project. I saw it in a magazine and I just HAD to have it. I had some help from my friend Lori in getting started. It was started several times actually...argh.

The finished flower was a little bit dainty for me.

Pretty...but little. I couldn't resist trying it with bigger beads. I like this much better!

I am going to put it on a pin. That way I can wear it as a pin or I can put it on a chain and wear it as a necklace.

I'm still not sure I will make another....I have decided that I am "in" to instant gratification and this project took too long and was too complicated. Lot's of counting and paying attention. (paying attention is another thing I avoid!).

So, until those spring flowers begin to appear (my daffodils are coming up!! yay!), I will enjoy my PINK flower pin/necklace.

Now it's time for YOU to go make a lovely cup of tea....

Go to Beverly's

and

See all the wonderful PINK!

THANK YOU Roberta!!

I want to thank Roberta for my new necklace and earrings! They are so beautiful, please go take a look: http://robertam.blogspot.com/2009/02/one-world-one-heart-giveaway.html

I am so very honored to have won Roberta's drawing. She is very talented and her necklace is even prettier in person. It was all I could do to keep my daughter from taking them. I assured her that I love them very much and I will be wearing them often.

Thanks Roberta!!

Beading Buddy

My Dear Daughter is the one who 'turned me on' to beading. (Should I be mad at her for that?) She is so creative and she learned just by DOING. I love her taste, it's so different from mine, but I would wear any of the things she makes.
Today we she came over and we beaded almost all day.

This is a necklace that she brought to show me.
I just love it! It's earthy and chunky and yet sophisticated.

This next set is soooo pretty. She wanted to use up a whole bunch of leftover beads in her stash. She just put them all together and I think the result is fabulous. Don't you?

This is interesting. I was with her when she bought these beads. They were on sale, so ...of course I bought some too. Mine are still in my stash....hers are a LOVELY necklace. I wish she would just go ahead and make mine too!! It IS my favorite color, after all!

These 3 sets are the things that she brought to show me.
Today, she made some wonderful new things that I will show to you a.s.a.p.

This bracelet is just ONE of the new things DD made today. And, this one is out of MY stash. We both think that the blue in the bracelet really brings out the blue sapphires in her wedding ring.

More to come......
