Scarf to Vest Makeover

This is something I saw in a magazine. I like the one in the magazine better (go figure). This is a test and I think I will try it again. This is the "after" front view. I am going to try to find some kind of cool clasp to try in the front or just leave it alone...what do you think?

This is the "after" back view.

This is what it was before. It was one of those long wide scarves. It wasn't as wide as the one in the magazine. If I try again, I will use a wider one so that I can make the back longer in a drapey triangle.

It is made by cutting the scarf into 3 pieces. The 2 with fringe are the front and the square is used for the back.

I'm looking for another scarf to cut up.

It's those scissors again, they are out of control!!!

Knit Knit Knit...when will it ever get finished?

What will this be when it grows up? It is supposed to become a lovely sweater. I had such enthusiasm and high hopes in the beginning. Now, it seems like it's taking forever. Okay, I admit it, I don't seem to give it enough time and attention. It's my first sweater, EVER. And, there are so many boo boos in it that I am already coming up with creative ideas to disguise them...we'll see. Am I going to keep knitting in my "wanna be" list of endeavors? The jury is still out. I so admire those great creations by knitting MASTERS...I guess I have to stick with it to get better. The yarn is really soft, I mean REALLY soft, and I love to wear soft things. There is still hope. Stay tuned.....

Pink Saturday...Roses

Happy Pink Saturday to YOU!! If you love all things Pink...visit Beverly's for more PINK!

How lucky am I? I received these beautiful roses from hubby for our anniversary! And, they are PINK!! Does he know me or what? I look forward to them opening up even more.

There are even Pink roses on the card. Hmmmm.

We went to Yosemite for a couple of days....it's our thing. Nice and quiet. Lot's of bike riding!! And, I always have to scope out each and every gift shop in the park. I admired a beautiful vase and of course I didn't buy it...to expensive!! Well, guess what hubby gave me for an anniversary present?? Yep, you guessed it!

It's not pink....but it does contain the pretty pink roses...does that count?

Oh! And, it's sitting on one of my favorite things...that happens to be pink and green. It's a cut out table runner that was a gift from my sister many years ago.

Happy Pink Saturday! I hope that you are doing something wonderful this weekend!!

25 Years!!

Sometimes it seems like a long time ago (were we ever really that young??) and sometimes it seems like yesterday!! We celebrated our 25th Anniversary yesterday !!

My marriage advice: Marry the right person. Heh!

I totally lucked out and married the best husband in the world!! No, he's not perfect...he's just perfect for me.

We went to the prom together. I called him an "old man" because he was a senior and I was a sophomore. I don't call him that anymore.....

We met in high school and here we are before his graduation in 1975. I was attracted to his great sense of humor...and he is still hilarious!! I think he liked me for my very short skirts (don't wear those anymore!!).
Life pulled us in different directions and we reconnected in 1981 and got married in 1983. If you saw my blog about my daughter's wedding, we got married in the same spot!

No. It's not a wig. All that hair is mine. Funny thing is that in the last 25 years my hair has been almost every color and every length....and here it is, all these years later and it's almost the same as I wore it in high school. What's up with that? (a little bit lighter I guess...I think I forgot my real hair color years ago!!)

So, here's to the next 25!

Pink Saturday....Tea Time!

Happy Pink Saturday!! Check out all the pink things at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com

Country Mouse (that's me) and City Mouse (bff) met up in Phoenix last weekend. It was a business training...and of course we managed to squeeze in some FUN!! It took a bit of sleuthing to find a "Tea House" nearby. We found this fabulous place in Gilbert AZ called Tea Dreams. If you are ever in Phoenix...you must go there!

We are used to the typical Victorian Tea houses (which we LOVE!). This was totally different and we were both delighted! The colors were PINK and brown. This is the logo and they even had dishes made with the logo, lady and all on them!

There was so much wonderful tea cups and such to look at. Here is a Pink plate:

Fortuitous that I was wearing Pink....I blended right in!!

Aren't we having fun????

We ordered the Duchess. Doesn't that sound GRAND? It was so delicious....these pictures are making my mouth water!

Desert? Are you kidding?? Of course. And, we ate it ALL!!

They have some wonderful quotes painted on the wall. Hope you can read them.

This is in the bathroom. I came across some bloggers that were taking pictures in public bathrooms....I should find them. I never thought I would be so inspired to join in!!

I just adore the way that they hung crystals on this light fixture. I truly admire people who come up with such creativity!

Isn't this round couch sooooo Pink Saturday????

What a fun time. Wish I could do it all over again....right now!!

Happy Pink Saturday To YOU!

Sweater Makeover

This sweater is hideous. And, yes...I admit to purchasing it myself...brand new. Clearly, it was a mistake purchase. The appeal for me was the softer than soft fabric that was also in colors that I like. Perhaps you are thinking that I just need to unzip it and it will suddenly be lovely:

Nope. Still ugly! So, if I'm never going to wear it...what's the harm in chopping it up and seeing what will happen? Here is the "first" cut. I cut off the tight part of the sleeves and the tight band at the bottom:

Nope. Still ugly. Hmmmm. Is that it? Time to toss it? Let's cut it again....shorter:

Well, that's better. But, what's up with those sleeves? I don't like them at all! Off they go! I removed the long zipper and cut it down and YAY! I love the outcome. I will certainly wear this.

What else do I have that I don't wear? Where are those scissors?

Phoenix Arizona

Well, I visited "Summer" this past weekend. It's fall here at home....with nice cool temperatures and falling leaves. In Phoenix, it was 102!! Ugh! I had a great time, even while sweating, and NOW I'm ready for cold. So, bring it on!!

May I say, it's good to be home? I missed my pillow and my bed....and my husband (of course). Traveling is fun, and it's grueling at the same time. Lugging suitcases around is not my idea of fun! And, I don't much care for flying. I always fly Southwest as my dear daughter is a flight attendant and gives me FREE flying privileges. I should go more places!

Here we are a few months ago....pay no attention to my hair-do...or lack thereof. Hey it was windy outside!! Isn't she precious?
